The Rift Valley, Lake Manyara,
Ngorongoro, and Serengeti
The best of the Tanzania's
national parks and featuring 3
nights adventure camping in the
great Serengeti. An incredible
diversity of wildlife and
terrain can be seen in a very
short time on this safari in
Tanzania. This itinerary is
perfect as a post Kilimanjaro
safari.
Day 1: Lake Manyara
Leave Arusha this morning with a
picnic lunch that you'll enjoy
in Lake Manyara National Park,
an UNESCO biosphere. This first
game drive will introduce you to
a great variety of big game from
Lion to Elephant. In the early
evening continue up the Rift
Valley escarpment to Kirurumu
Camp, which is set upon the edge
of the Great Rift Valley and
enjoys commanding and panoramic
views of Lake Manyara and the
surrounding area. Dinner and
overnight at Kirurumu.
Day 2: Lake Manyara
Today you have the option of
guided ethno-botanical walks at
the top of the Rift escarpment,
or you can return to Manyara
National Park for another game
drive on your safari in
Tanzania. Mountain biking,
hiking, horseback riding, rock
climbing, cultural village
walks, guided nature and forest
walks, are also available at a
small additional charge. Meals
and overnight at Kirurumu.
Day 3: Ngorongoro
This morning you drive through
the farming areas of Karatu onto
the spectacular rainforest rim
of Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive
your lodge for lunch, followed
by an afternoon game drive on
the crater floor. Game viewing
at any time of the year is often
the best of every safari! Meals
and overnight at the lodge on
the rim of the crater, with
fantastic views.
Day 4: Serengeti
Morning drive into the Serengeti
National Park, stopping en-route
at Olduvai Gorge, the cradle of
mankind. The Serengeti -
undoubtedly the best-known
wildlife sanctuary in the world
- is home to an incredible
number of animals and is
unequaled for its natural
beauty. During your 3 days,
you'll enjoy the excitement of
an adventure camp set up
actually in the park. At night
the sounds of Africa are
guaranteed to form some of your
most lasting memories on this
African Safari !
Days 5 & 6: Serengeti
Daily game-drives exploring the
wide-open spaces of the
Serengeti, visiting different
habitats and following the ebb
and flow of life in its seasonal
movements on this safari in
Tanzania. There may be also time
to visit sacred Maasai sites.
Meals and overnights in your
adventure camp.
Day 7: Arusha - Depart
A quick morning flight returns
you to Arusha, where you'll be
met and shown around town. Time
for shopping before lunch at a
popular local restaurant. In the
afternoon, you'll be taken to a
hotel adjacent Kilimanjaro
Airport where private rooms are
available before the evening
departures.
