Day 1: Moshi, Tanzania
Today you will be picked up at
your hotel in Nairobi and
transferred by shuttle to Moshi
via Arusha, going through the
Tanzanian border for your
Kilimanjaro tour. If the weather
is favorable you might get your
first glimpse of the worlds
tallest freestanding mountain,
Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 metres).
Tonight you will be briefed by
one of the guides about your up
coming Kilimanjaro tour. Two
people per room. Dinner.
Day 2, 3 & 4: Kilimanjaro
National Park, Tanzania
After breakfast you depart for
the Eastern side of Kilimanjaro
to start your Kilimanjaro tour.
You ascend up into the
rainforest to Mandara Huts (2750
metres). After today’s hike you
have the chance to go for a
small walk to Maundi Crater
where you can view Kenya and
Northern Tanzania.
After a good night’s rest on the
slopes, you head for your next
destination, Horombo Huts (3720
metres). The vegetation today
will be heath and small shrubs
on your Tanzania safari tour.
You will be stopping half way
for lunch where you will get
some amazing views of Mawenzi
(5149 metres), one of
Kilimanjaro peaks.
You get up at sunrise and after
breakfast you set off for Kibo
Huts (4703 metres). The first
half of the hike traverses the
upper heath land while the
second half crosses the vast
saddle that connects Mawenzi and
Kibo. The saddle of Kilimanjaro
is an alpine desert that
resembles a lunar landscape.
More great views of the peaks
can be seen today during the
Kilimanjaro tour. Breakfast,
Lunch, Dinner.
Day 5: Uhuru Peak (Summit),
Tanzania
Early morning you start your
final trek to the summit of
Kilimanjaro on your Tanzania
safari tour. You advance upon
steep and heavy screen reaching
Gilman’s Point on the crater rim
of the mountain located at 5,861
metres, and then on to Uhuru
Peak, the highest point in
Africa located at 5,895 metres
on your Kilimanjaro tour. After
you leave Uhuru Peak, you will
return to the Horombo encampment
for the evening. Breakfast,
Lunch, Dinner.
Day 6: Moshi, Tanzania
Your journey downwards takes the
Kilimanjaro tour past the
Mandara encampment and back to
the entrance point of the Park.
You will make your way back to
the hotel in Moshi for a
well-deserved rest. Two people
per room. Breakfast, Lunch,
Dinner.
Day 7: Nairobi, Kenya
After breakfast you will be
transferred back to Nairobi
where your Kilimanjaro Adventure
ends! Breakfast.
