Madagascar Sainte Marie: Masoandro Lodge: ***
Masoandro Lodge is situated in the centre of the island on the west coast, about
35 km from the airport. (40 minute drive). Accommodation consists of 21
comfortable eco bungalows with ensuite bathrooms and two bungalow-suites deluxe.
Facilities include: restaurant and bar, beach bar offering BBQ, safe &
telephone at reception, boutique and theme evenings. All bungalows are private
and have their own verandas facing the sea. Star attractions are the pretty
secluded private beach with a jetty, outside bar and entertainment area. The
charming lodge is situated on a hill with incredible views and the whale
watching
is excellent. A new addition is the beautiful rim flow swimming pool.
Bungalow Superior (former standard bungalows): The 19 bungalows (25 m2) are sea
facing built in traditional Malagasy style, mosquito nets, bathroom ensuite, big
beds, ceiling fans and private terrace
Bungalow Luxe (former suites): 2 suites twice the size of the standard bungalows
and they have satellite TV, air conditioning, private garden and terrace. This
is ideal accommodation for families.
Free activities: table tennis, petanque, games, snorkelling, video room with
satellite TV, walks and whale watching from the terrace (great views from
Masoandro)
Payable activities: jungle trekking, deep-sea fishing, excursions, whale
safaris, diving, snorkelling equipment, kayaks and pirogues, boat excursions,

Sainte Marie (Nosy Boraha), a 57 km-long island off Madagascar's east coast, is
an authentic tropical island with lush vegetation interspersed with many small
villages. This island is beautiful, offering the ultimate escape from
civilisation. The hotels along its coast range from basic to classy
establishments with
all necessary modern facilities. The lush surroundings bring to mind images of
an enormous tropical garden. It's ideal for honeymoon couples or anybody with a
romantic bent. Sainte Marie boasts numerous stunningly beautiful beaches and
secluded coves, fringed with coconut palms. The coral reefs offshore offer
excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. In August and September, hump-backed
whales migrate here and are a huge attraction. The roads beckon mountain bikers

most hotels hire bicycles and snorkelling gear.

Itinerary: 9 nights
DAY 1: Fly to Antananarivo (Tana), the lively Malagasy capital in the Central
Highlands. On arrival proceed through customs and immigration and make your way
to
the domestic terminal for your flight to Sainte Marie Island. A representative
of the hotel will meet you on arrival. Transfer to the Masoandro Village where
you will be staying for 9 nights.
DAY 10: Transfer to the airport and fly back to Antananarivo. Make your way to
the international departure lounge and check in for your flight to Johannesburg.
