BUSHMAN GRASSROOTS
– 2 DAY ADVENTURE
A superb opportunity to join a
short 2 day trip into the heart of the Kalahari
where we can enjoy and learn about the bushman
culture at first hand. This adventure runs
weekly and can easily be added onto other
safaris either before, between or after!
Day 1 SAN TA KO,
BUSHMAN VILLAGE
You will be collected from your accommodation
and then depart from Chameleon backpackers
around 8.30am driving through to Gobabis where
we will stop briefly to fresh supplies. From
here we head South East, close to the Botswana
border, driving past saltpans and into the heart
of the Kalahari Desert. We arrive at the
community campsite mid afternoon, set up our
tents and relax before meeting and enjoying the
San people singing in dancing around the
campfire. There are normally many stories to
tell through the singing. Evening meal
prepared by guide with client assistance (LD)
Day 2 WINDHOEK
This morning we walk with a local tracker and
head into the bush and learn how the bushmen
traditionally hunted and collected veldt food,
naturally these days life is very different and
you will have ample opportunity to ask questions
to find out about the change in their lifestyle
and how they survive in today’s modern world.
We then visit a local village and can see at
first hand their day to day life, often we can
see them making ostrich shell jewellery or
preparing food. After lunch we head back to
Windhoek arriving later in the afternoon and
where you will be dropped at your accommodation
