7 Days - Namibia Adventure Highlights Safari Tour

Accommodation

Guests stay in accommodation that specially chosen for its cleanliness, comfort and good service. The guest lodges and tented safari camps are booked based on availability. We will tell you where you’ll be staying once your booking is confirmed.

Rooms are booked on a twin-share basis. Each room and safari tent is ensuite. Linen or sleeping bags as well as bath towels are provided. Please bring your own swimming towels (recommend you bring more than 1 per person, especially in summer when you’re likely to swim more often).

Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek

Guests are collected from Windhoek International Airport and transferred to a centrally-located guesthouse.

Settle into your room and freshen up before joining the group for an Ancient San Skills tour where you learn some of the skills passed down by the ancient San (Bushmen) tribe. It’s a unique opportunity to interact with the world’s oldest cultural group and learn more about how they survived in inhospitable desert environments.

Return to your lodge in Windhoek early evening. Enjoy dinner at the lodge restaurant or one of many excellent restaurants in town.

Day 2: Windhoek – Etosha National Park

Early wake up for hot beverages and snacks. Guests travel to Etosha National Park, stopping at Otjiwarongo for a light packed lunch. Enter Etosha National Park through Anderson Gate. Enjoy a leisurely game drive through the Park on the lookout for predators and unusual Etosha wildlife sightings. Arrive at your accommodation in Etosha National Park as the sun is setting. The Etosha lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole so you should see some game and birdlife enjoying an evening drink.

Day 3: Etosha National Park & Surrounds

Early wake up for hot beverages and snack before departing for a sunrise game drive in Etosha National Park. Return to camp for breakfast and then head out again to spend more time exploring the vast wilderness region.

Return to your lodge for a picnic lunch and short break to freshen up. The afternoon is spent visiting the iconic Etosha Pan and continuing on a game drive in search of the Big 4. Arrive at Okaukuejo late afternoon and leave Etosha National Park as the sun is setting.

Day 4: Damaraland – Swakopmund

Early wake up and sunrise breakfast. Depart at 7h40 and drive through the communal lands of Damaraland, stopping at the Ugab River Bridge to visit the beautiful Herero ladies who run a small arts and crafts centre.

Picnic lunch under the shadow of the Brandberg Mountain and a short visit from a Himba group who sell their wares to passing tourists. Your journey continues with a drive through the world-famous Namib Desert with a short stop at one of the many ghostly shipwrecks found on the Skeleton Coast.

Arrive late afternoon in the quaint seaside town of Swakopmund. Book into your accommodation and spend the last few hours of the day exploring this historic town on foot. For a much-needed drink, join the group for sundowners at a restaurant on the jetty overlooking the icy Atlantic Ocean.

Dinner is at any one of the excellent restaurants in town (for your own expense). Your guide will recommend the best ones in town.

Day 5: Swakopmund – Sossusvlei

After a leisurely breakfast, join the group for one of the many optional activities on offer in Swakopmund. This could be quad biking, sand boarding, a dolphin cruise or a scenic flight along the Skeleton Coast spotting ancient shipwrecks.

A special treat is a trip to Walvis Bay to see the world-famous flamingoes in the lagoon, which is a protected RAMSAR birding site.

Leave Swakopmund at 12h00 and drive to a desert safari camp near Sesriem. You’ll drive via Kuiseb Pass and Gaub Pass, stopping to stretch your legs and take photos at the Tropic of Capricorn Crossing.

Arrive at your desert camp late afternoon, settle into your tented accommodation and enjoy a sunset walk over the Naukluft mountain range before it’s time for dinner.

Dinner is prepared by your guide and served under the stars around the camp firepit. Overnight in twin-share rooms with ensuite bathrooms.

Day 6: Sossusvlei & Surrounds

Early wake up for hot beverages and snacks before departing to explore the major attractions of Sossusvlei. First stop is Dead Vlei which is renowned for its ghostly bleached, cracked clay landscape and skeletal camel thorn trees. In the background are the famous Namibian Red Dunes which change colour as the sun rises and sets.

After a comfortable hike exploring Dead Vlei, you’re taken to the famed Sossusvlei Dunes. Enjoy a light picnic lunch and spend the rest of the time exploring the area on foot.

Return to your tented camp late afternoon with stops enroute at the world-famous Dune 45 or Big Daddy Dune. You can climb it if fit enough or walk around its massive base. Last activity of the day is a visit to Sesriem Canyon. It’s one of only a few permanent water sources in the arid region and the perfect spot of sundowners.

Day 7: Sesriem – Solitaire – Windhoek

After a leisurely breakfast, guests are taken to Solitaire which is a wildlife sanctuary for endangered cheetahs. They are orphaned or injured cheetahs that have been rescued but cannot be released back into their natural habitat for various reasons.

Guests are taken on a 1-hour drive around the sanctuary in an open safari vehicle, meeting the cheetahs and learning more about this beautiful species. Photographs with certain cheetahs are allowed.

The tour departs for Windhoek after lunch, with a brief pitstop at Bullsport Guest Farm and Rehoboth. Arrive in Windhoek late afternoon. You can be dropped off at your pre-booked accommodation in the city or at the Windhoek International Airport.

Please do NOT book flights out of Windhoek that depart prior or close to 17h00.
