Ultimate Southern Africa Safari: Victoria Falls, Hwange & Chobe

You're met at Victoria Falls Airport and transferred to The Victoria Falls Hotel, where you'll settle into a Deluxe Suite for the next three nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Once you've had a chance to unpack, a guide takes you to see the falls up close — one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. In the evening, you're back out for a sundowner cruise along the Zambezi, followed by a 12–13 minute helicopter flight that puts the whole falls beneath you at once.
 

Today is yours to fill as you like. Victoria Falls is one of the few places where white-water rafting, bungee jumping and zip-lining are all on the same activity list, alongside gentler options like a canoeing safari on the Zambezi or a walk through Victoria Falls National Park. None of it is included, so pick what suits your appetite for adrenaline and book it locally.

A second day at your own pace, better suited to slowing down if yesterday was the adrenaline day. Local craft markets and cultural village visits give a sense of the town beyond the falls, or you can simply make use of The Victoria Falls Hotel's own grounds and views over the Zambezi gorge. Guided nature and historical tours are also available if you'd rather have context with your walk.

After breakfast, you're transferred back to Victoria Falls Airport for the short flight to Hwange, followed by a road transfer into a private concession bordering the park. Camelthorn Lodge is fully inclusive from the moment you arrive, so the rest of the day is simply about settling into a much quieter kind of wilderness than the falls.

 

Zimbabwe's largest game reserve opens up today with a morning and an afternoon game drive, plus a guided bush walk in between—Hwange's elephant herds are the headline, but lions, buffalo, giraffes, and zebras all turn up regularly, alongside a serious bird list. The lodge's private concession means you're rarely sharing a sighting with another vehicle.

Another full day of game drives and walking safaris, with the freedom to push further into the concession or slow down and let the lodge's guides read the bush for you. Evenings here are quiet in a way that's hard to find elsewhere on this trip no crowds, no other camps in sight, just the concession and whatever's moving through it.

After breakfast, a transfer takes you to Hwange Airport for the flight to Kasane, Botswana, then a road transfer into Chobe National Park itself Chobe Game Lodge is the only lodge actually inside the park. It's fully inclusive from arrival, with riverfront views over the Chobe that set the tone for the next three nights.
 

Chobe earns its reputation today — game drives along the riverfront put you among some of the highest elephant concentrations in Africa, and a boat safari on the Chobe River adds lion, buffalo, hippo and crocodile to the list, often from a few meters away. It's also simply a better angle for photography than a vehicle ever is.

One more day between game drives and boat safaris, with antelope species and birdlife along the Chobe floodplain filling in whatever the big game leaves out. It's a fitting last full day bthe same river and the same herds, but a different sighting every time you go out.

After breakfast, you're transferred to Kasane Airport for your onward flight — ten days behind you, from the roar of Victoria Falls to the quiet of a private Hwange concession and the elephant herds of the Chobe riverfront.
