11 Days - Tanzania Safari, Victoria Falls and Okavango Delta

11 Days / 10 Nights Days Arusha, Tanzania → Johannesburg (flight home from Victoria Falls) Wildlife Easy

Why Choose This Safari?

This 11-day safari is built for travellers who want the classic northern Tanzanian parks and two of southern Africa’s best-known landscapes in one trip. You begin in Lake Manyara National Park, with its groundwater forest and hippos, then spend two nights in the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering about 14,763 square kilometres, where lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs are all on the list. The journey continues to the Ngorongoro Crater, whose floor covers about 260 square kilometres and is enclosed by cliffs of about 600 metres, before you finish the northern circuit at Tarangire National Park. From there the trip crosses the continent to the Okavango Delta, where you spend two nights in a lodge with full board and game activities, and then to Victoria Falls, where a sunset cruise and a boma dinner round off the trip. Expert guides, charter flights and carefully paced days make this a varied and well-balanced safari.

Best Time to Go

No travel period was given for this safari, so the guidance below is based on general seasonality. The dry months from June to October are usually the best time for game viewing in Tanzania, including the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire, where herds gather along the river from June to November. The Okavango Delta is generally at its best for game viewing from about July to October, when the floodwaters are high and animals gather near water. Victoria Falls has its highest flow from about March to May, but it is usually lower in the dry months from September to December. For the best balance of game viewing and water levels, aim for July to October. Our team can advise on your dates. You can read more on the Tanzania National Parks Authority and Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does this safari start and end, and how long does it last?

It starts in Arusha with an 8:30 am pickup and ends with a flight from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg on Day 11. The trip runs for 11 days and 10 nights, including an overnight in Dar es Salaam on Day 6.

Which parks are on the Big Five route?

The route visits Lake Manyara National Park, the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park, followed by the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls. Rhinos are rare, so a sighting of all five can’t be guaranteed.

Do we need visas to cross into Zimbabwe?

Yes. The road transfer from Kasane to Victoria Falls crosses a border, so you will need the correct visas for Botswana and Zimbabwe. Visa fees and border costs are not included in the rate, so please ask our team to confirm the requirements for your nationality.

Are the flights included?

The charter flights between Maun, the Okavango Delta and Kasane are included. International and regional flights, including the Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg flight, the Johannesburg to Maun flight and the flight home, are not included.

Where do we stay on Day 6?

After the flight to Dar es Salaam on Day 6 you spend the night in the city. Our team will confirm the hotel when you book.

Is Victoria Falls worth visiting in the dry season?

The falls are usually lower in the dry season, from September to December. Your afternoon tour and sunset cruise still give you a good view, and the boma dinner adds a local cultural evening.
