2-Day Safari to Tarangire and Lake Manyara from Zanzibar
Overview
Experience Tanzania's stunning landscapes and incredible wildlife with a quick but fulfilling two-day journey to two unique parks. Tarangire National Park, the northern circuit's hidden gem, and Lake Manyara National Park offer an extraordinary variety of wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable photo opportunities. Departing from Zanzibar, you’ll be immersed in Africa’s wilderness and back within two days.
DAY 1: Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Flight: Zanzibar – Arusha (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
Departing from Zanzibar Airport, you’ll take a scenic flight to Arusha, where you’ll be met and transported to Tarangire National Park. Known for its large elephant herds, majestic baobabs, and diverse wildlife, Tarangire is a photographer’s paradise.
Once in the park, embark on an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River, a year-round water source attracting a multitude of wildlife. With the iconic landscape of golden savannah and ancient baobab trees as a backdrop, you may see elephants, zebras, antelope, lions, and, if you’re lucky, rare species like the Greater Kudu or Fringe-Eared Oryx.
Enjoy a picnic lunch with a view of the river—just watch out for curious monkeys!
Overnight: Lodge or campsite in Tarangire National Park
DAY 2: Lake Manyara – Arusha – Zanzibar
Morning Game Drive in Lake Manyara
After breakfast, travel to Lake Manyara National Park. Famous for its tree-climbing lions and prolific birdlife, Manyara is ideal for capturing classic African wildlife scenes. The park is home to elephants, cape buffalo, and the brilliantly colored lilac-breasted roller, among many other species. Bird-watchers will be delighted by flocks of flamingos, birds of prey, and diverse aquatic species along the lake’s shores.
Optional Canoe Safari: Under the right conditions, a canoe safari on Lake Manyara is an excellent way to view wildlife from the water. Ask your safari expert if this is available during your visit.
After lunch, return to Arusha Airport for your flight back to Zanzibar.
