This three-day package combines one of South Africa’s most scenic drives with time in one of Africa’s best-known wildlife parks. The Panorama Route runs for about 386 kilometres through Mpumalanga, past God’s Window, where the cliffs of the Drakensberg escarpment drop about 700 metres, and Lisbon Falls, which plunges about 92 metres on the Lisbon River near Graskop. All entrance fees on the route are included. You then spend a full day in Kruger National Park, which was proclaimed a national park in 1926 and is home to 147 large mammal species, with all of the Big Five found in the park. Guides lead both morning and evening drives, and you travel in an open 4x4 game vehicle.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Johannesburg to Hazyview via the Panorama Route
You are collected from Johannesburg and travel along the Panorama Route, with stops for comfort breaks and photographs at God’s Window, Lisbon Falls and the town of Graskop. All entrance fees on the route are included. You arrive at your lodge in Hazyview, and on your first evening you take a game drive. You have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2 — Full-Day Game Drives in Kruger National Park
Your guide collects you from your lodge early in the morning, and you spend the full day in Kruger National Park in search of the Big Five. The guides are trained professionals who know the park’s wildlife well and share what they see as you go. You travel in an open 4x4 game vehicle, so bring a hat, sunscreen and suitable clothing. There are stops for comfort breaks and lunch during the day. You have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3 — Final Morning Drive and Return to Johannesburg
Your guide collects you early in the morning for a game drive in Kruger National Park, which lasts about half the morning. You then return to the lodge to freshen up before the journey back to Johannesburg.

Best Time to Go
This safari can be taken all year round. In general, Kruger’s drier months, roughly May to September, are often the best time for game viewing, because the vegetation is thinner and animals gather around waterholes. The wetter months, roughly November to March, bring green landscapes, plenty of birdlife and young animals, though afternoon storms are common and the grass can be tall. Where does the safari start and end, and how long does it last?
It starts and ends in Johannesburg and lasts three days and two nights. You travel to Hazyview along the Panorama Route on Day 1, spend Day 2 in Kruger National Park, and return to Johannesburg on Day 3.
