You take a morning flight from Zanzibar and land at Seronera airstrip in the early afternoon, then go straight into your first game drive on the way to camp. Day 2 is a full day of morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park, one of Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife sanctuaries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the chance of seeing the wildebeest migration, big cats and a wide variety of birds. On the last morning you set off for an early game drive and bush breakfast before flying back to Zanzibar. Itinerary
Day 1 — Zanzibar to Serengeti National Park
You take a morning flight from Zanzibar, via Arusha, to Serengeti National Park, arriving in the early afternoon. Your guide meets you at Seronera airstrip, and on the way to your camp you enjoy your first game drive, spotting wildlife across the vast plains. You arrive at your tented camp just before sunset, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 — Full Day Game Drives in the Serengeti
You spend a full day exploring the Serengeti on morning and afternoon game drives. Depending on the season and the migration patterns, you may see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, antelopes, baboons, monkeys and countless bird species. The park is famous for the annual migration, with about 1.5 million wildebeest moving across the plains, though exact positions depend on the time of year. In the evening you return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 — Serengeti National Park to Zanzibar
You start with an early morning game drive, catching predators returning from the night’s hunt and wildlife waking up in the golden morning light. After a bush breakfast you transfer to Seronera airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar, scheduled for approximately 11:00 to 14:20.

Best Time to Go

The wildebeest follow the rains through the year, so where the herds are depends on the month, and from the end of June, when the dry season begins, the migration moves north in search of fresh grazing. The dry months, roughly June to October, are usually the easiest for spotting wildlife around waterholes and rivers, while the green months bring lush landscapes, young animals and fewer visitors. Because the herds move, ask our team where they’re likely to be on your dates. For the best overall balance of game viewing and travel comfort, aim for June to October.
