Kidepo Valley is one of Uganda’s most remote and least visited wilderness areas. Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda, near Karenga in Kaabong District, and covers about 1,442 square kilometres of savannah at the foot of Mount Morungole. The park is home to more than 77 mammal species and 476 bird species. Its two main valleys, the Kidepo and the Narus, are crossed by rivers and surrounded by wide plains. On this safari you reach the park by air, explore the savannah on game drives, visit the tepid Kanangorok hot spring close to the South Sudan border, and take an optional tour of the Karamojong communities that live around the park.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Kampala or Entebbe to Kidepo Valley National Park
You fly from Entebbe to Kidepo Valley National Park. On arrival you relax at the rest camp until lunch. In the afternoon you set out on a game drive in the park, where you may see elephants, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, lesser kudus, wild dogs and ostriches. You have dinner and an overnight stay at the rest camp.
Day 2 — Full-Day Excursion to Kanangorok Hot Spring
After breakfast you spend the day on an excursion to the Kanangorok hot spring, a tepid spring in the park’s extreme north, near the South Sudan border, which is the park’s most permanent water source. In the evening you enjoy a sundowner drink overlooking the Narus Valley plains. You have all meals and an overnight stay at the rest camp.
Day 3 — Early Game Drives and Karamojong Community Tour
You wake at 6:00 am for an early morning game drive, which returns to the rest camp at 9:00 am for breakfast. You relax at the camp for the rest of the morning, then set out on the evening game drive at 4:00 pm. You can also opt for a Karamojong community tour to learn about the communities around the park, at extra cost. You have lunch, dinner and an overnight stay at the rest camp.
Day 4 — Bush Walk and Return Flight to Entebbe
After breakfast you take a short bush walk along the Narus River, then return to the camp and check out. You transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe.

Best Time to Go
The safari can be taken all year round. In general, the drier months from December to March are often the best time for game viewing in Kidepo, because the animals gather around the rivers and water sources. The rainy months from April to October bring green grass to the savannah and more birdlife, though the roads can be harder to drive. Our team can advise on the best dates for your trip.
