This packaged safari combines two of South Africa’s best-known game areas. You stay near Hazyview before heading into Kruger National Park, which was established as a national park in 1926, has 147 large mammal species, and is home to all of the Big Five. Open 4x4 vehicles take you on your game drives. You then move to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, a private reserve of about 650 square kilometres that adjoins Kruger, where you stay for two nights on a full board basis. All road transfers are included, so you travel between Johannesburg, Hazyview and the reserves without arranging the journeys yourself.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Panorama Ride and Afternoon Game Drive
You are picked up from your hotel in Johannesburg and driven to Hazyview. On arrival you check into your lodge or camp, which is situated near Phabeni Gate. On your first evening you take either an afternoon game drive or a sunset game drive, depending on availability, and the driver will tell you which on the way to Hazyview. You have dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge or camp.
Day 2 — Game Drives in Kruger National Park
Your guide picks you up early in the morning and spends the full day with you in Kruger National Park, where you will hopefully see the Big Five. You travel in an open 4x4 game vehicle, so please bring a hat, sunscreen and suitable clothing. After your game drive you return to the lodge or camp to relax and freshen up before dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 — Kruger to Sabi Sands
You are picked up early and spend the morning in Kruger National Park. You return mid-morning to the lodge or camp for breakfast and check out. You are then transferred to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, a journey of about an hour and a half. On arrival the lodge or camp staff greet you, and you have time for lunch and to settle in and rest before the afternoon game drive. Late afternoon and evening are a great time to spot wildlife. After the drive you return to the lodge or camp for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 4 — Big Five Safaris in Sabi Sands
You are greeted with a cup of coffee before the morning game drive in a 4x4 safari vehicle, in the hope of seeing the Big Five waking and roaming in your path. If you prefer, you can take a morning bush walk instead of the drive. When you return, you have a leisurely breakfast and the rest of the morning at the lodge or camp to catch up on sleep or relax by the pool. Lunch is served, and there is more time to unwind before the afternoon safari drive with your guide. Sunset is spent in the bush, after which you return to the lodge or camp for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 5 — Morning Game Drive in Sabi Sands, Drive to Johannesburg
You rise early for your final morning game drive, to look for the animals that have eluded you so far. You return to the lodge or camp for breakfast and check out. Your driver then transfers you back to Johannesburg via Mbombela (Nelspruit).

Best Time to Go
This safari can be taken all year round. In general, the dry months from about May to September suit Kruger and Sabi Sands best. Vegetation is thinner and animals gather at water sources, which makes game viewing easier. The wetter months from about November to March bring green landscapes and birdlife, though afternoon storms are common. Our team can advise on the best dates for your trip.
