5 Days - Karongwe Reserve South Africa Safari

Located within the Karongwe Game Reserve, with Kruger National Park and the major points of interest in Limpopo and Mpumalanga within driving distance, is a collection of fine family owned lodges.

Bordered by the towering Drakensberg escarpment on the west and set in game-rich, lush vegetation, this splendid game reserve offers a variety of breathtaking views, diverse landscapes and an unrivalled African safari experience with the opportunity of seeing the ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo).

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Karongwe Game Reserve

You will be met on arrival into Hoedspruit Airport and transferred by road to the lodge. After lunch you will experience your first game drive in an open 4X4 safari vehicle with ranger and tracker, followed by dinner. Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.

Day 2 – Karongwe – Blyde River Canyon – Karongwe

Start the day with a guided bush walk and learn about the medicinal uses of the various trees and the deep cultural connections to the fauna and flora of the African culture. The walk will give you the opportunity to get a closer look at animal tracks and be fascinated by birds and smaller creatures. After lunch you will follow the scenic route to the Blyde River for a fantastic boat trip to experience the Canyon (please note that the boat trip may be replaced with a trip to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre depending on river conditions). Return to the lodge in time for a delicious dinner. Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.

Day 3 – Karongwe Game Reserve

Start your day with an early morning game drive accompanied by your guide and tracker before breakfast. After relaxing for a few hours in the lush gardens, or reading a book from the well-stocked library you will meet with your ranger on the deck in the afternoon for your game drive in open Land rovers. Get the chance to experience the thrill of viewing lion, elephant, leopards, rhino and buffalo up close. Take pleasure in finding nocturnal animals with a spotlight!! When you return to the lodge or Camp you will be met with a welcoming sherry on the deck and can enjoy a traditional Boma dinner while being entertained by traditional dancers. Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.

Day 4 – Karongwe – Kruger National Park – Karongwe

Today enjoy an all day trip to the renowned Kruger National Park. Depart early this morning for a full day in the famous park and enjoy a packed breakfast within the park. While enjoying the variety of wildlife you’ll visit the various lookout points in the Kruger National Park. Return to the Karongwe in time for a fabulous dinner. Dinner and overnight at Camp/Lodge.

Day 5 – End of Karongwe River Lodge Stay

The final early morning game drive will be taken before transferring to Hoedspruit Airport.
