Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival at Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport
Your private driver-guide meets you on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and transfers you to your accommodation. You'll have the evening to settle in and rest before your safari begins the following morning.
Day 2 — Arusha to Tarangire National Park, then Karatu
You set off in your private 4x4 Land Cruiser toward Tarangire National Park, where the Tarangire River, ancient baobabs and large elephant herds give you plenty to work with behind the lens. In the late afternoon, you continue on to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 — Lake Manyara National Park
After a hearty breakfast, you head to Lake Manyara, known for its salt lake flamingos, playful hippos, and the Rift Valley escarpment rising behind it—and, if you're lucky, one of the park's tree-climbing lions. You return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as the day winds down.
Day 4 — Lake Manyara to Serengeti via Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Breakfast is followed by a scenic drive toward the Serengeti by way of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a stop at the crater rim for photographs over the caldera. Along the way, you can arrange an optional visit to a Maasai boma at extra cost, and you'll stop at Oldupai Gorge to learn about the site's significance to human evolution. Game viewing continues as you cross into southern Serengeti, where you overnight at a tented camp.
Days 5 & 6 — Full Days in Serengeti National Park
Both days are spent entirely in the Serengeti's central and eastern acacia savannah, setting out after breakfast with a packed lunch for a full day of game driving. You break for a picnic lunch around midday before continuing with the afternoon game drive, then return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 — Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
You start with one last morning game drive in the Serengeti before setting off toward Ngorongoro, with game viewing continuing along the way. You spend your final night at a lodge on the crater rim, with views over the caldera to close out the trip.
Day 8 — Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Airport
Your final day begins with a descent into Ngorongoro Crater itself, where predator-prey interactions play out at close range. You break for a picnic lunch while reviewing the trip's photographs, then head back up and out, driving to Arusha for your onward flight.

Best Time to Go
For photography specifically, the dry season from June to October gives you the clearest game viewing and the classic golden-hour light over Tarangire and the Serengeti's open plains. If dramatic skies and newborn wildlife matter more to your portfolio than guaranteed sightings, the green season from December to March brings calving in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu area, along with lush, photogenic landscapes.
