This eight-day trip pairs a classic northern Tanzanian safari with a relaxed finish on Zanzibar’s beaches. You begin with a full day in Tarangire National Park, which covers about 2,850 square kilometres and is known for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Two nights in the Serengeti National Park give you two full days of game drives across a park of about 14,763 square kilometres, home to a large population of lions and vast herds of plains game. On the way, you pass the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the crater floor covers about 260 square kilometres. The trip then flies you to Zanzibar, the island often called the Spice Island, for three nights of beach time, a marine excursion with snorkelling and a seafood lunch, and a leisure day in the Indian Ocean.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and Transfer to Arusha
You are warmly greeted by our representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. The day is set aside for rest and recovery after your journey.
Day 2 — Arusha to Tarangire National Park and Karatu
After breakfast you depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and abundant wildlife. You enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. In the late afternoon you drive to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3 — Karatu to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast you leave Karatu and drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying scenic landscapes and wildlife sightings on the way. You stop for a picnic lunch en route, then continue to the Serengeti National Park. You check in to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 — Serengeti National Park Full-Day Game Drive
You spend the day in the Serengeti National Park, with morning and afternoon game drives. Look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes and vast herds of plains game. A picnic lunch is served inside the park before the afternoon drive. You return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5 — Serengeti to Zanzibar by Flight
After an early breakfast you transfer to the Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti for your flight to Zanzibar. On arrival you are met and transferred to your beach hotel. The afternoon is set aside for relaxation on the beaches, and you spend the night at the hotel.
Day 6 — Zanzibar Sea Excursion
After breakfast you join a full-day sea excursion from Zanzibar. You cruise turquoise waters, visit pristine sandbanks, snorkel among colourful fish and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on a secluded island. Dolphin sightings are possible but not guaranteed. You return to your hotel for a late-afternoon rest, with an overnight stay at the beach hotel.
Day 7 — Zanzibar Leisure Day
You have a full day at leisure on Zanzibar’s beaches. You can relax, swim in the Indian Ocean or explore the island at your own pace. You spend the night at your beach hotel.
Day 8 — Zanzibar Departure
Depending on your flight schedule, you are transferred to Zanzibar International Airport for your onward journey home. Your flight home is not included in the rate.

Best Time to Go
No travel period was given for this trip, so the guidance below is based on general seasonality. The June to October dry season is generally the best time for game viewing in the Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti’s migration herds are most often in the north during the second half of the year. Zanzibar is warm all year, and its drier months from June to October and again from December to February are the most comfortable for beach time and boat trips. The parks on this route are home to the Big Five, including lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards, and the crater has rhinos. Rhinos are rare in the crater, so a sighting of all five can’t be guaranteed.
What is included in the sea excursion?
The Day 6 sea excursion includes sandbank visits, snorkelling and a seafood lunch on a secluded island, with dolphins possible but not guaranteed. Please ask our team whether equipment and transfers are included.
Do we have free time on Zanzibar?
Yes. Day 7 is a leisure day for swimming, relaxing or exploring the island at your own pace, and the afternoon of Day 5 is also free. Meals on the leisure day are not included beyond breakfast.
What happens after the trip ends in Zanzibar?
You are transferred to Zanzibar International Airport on Day 8 for your onward journey. Accommodation after Day 8 is not included, and the flight home is not included in the rate.
